Not the Best February 24, 2010 candogal I have purchased two bottles over the years used a little, used a lot, used it on wet hair, used it on dry hair. It would be shiny and soft at first and by two hours it would make my hair dull looking like I hadn't washed it same with my daughter's hair. I still have more than half of my second bottle left. My hairdresser used Sabino Moisture Block on my hair about 3 years ago and I instantly fell in love with it. It is like Biosilk but it is lighter and makes my hair incredibly shiny and soft with staying power. The bottle is smaller but you don't have to apply as much as you do for Biosilk. I like to apply a tiny amount to dry hair, friends always make comments on how shiny my hair is. The only reason I would consider Biosilk is if they ever stopped making Sabino it costs $20 here on Amazon and it is worth twice that amount because it lasts a looooonnnggg time!
See, Feel, SMELL! February 19, 2010 Lisa Joye (SC) Biosilk Silk Therapy remains as one of my mainstays in my hair care products. It is one I keep going back to again and again. I love it.
It is a medium textured serum. Biosilk's main ingredient, hydrolyzed silk, is an amazing substance that gives moisture and sheen to the hair shaft. It coats it like liquid silk. Another great ingredient is panthenol, a protein. You may use it on towel dried hair, or as a finishing gloss. Determining how much to use is according to hair length/type/condition. My hair is thick and dry, so I use about a guarter size. Rub your palms together, and run hands throughout hair. I comb mine after applying to distribute well.(when wet). I do the same when applying to dry hair either before styling, or after, for shine. Use only a small amount at first.
I also love it because it can be used on the skin as well. It's an amazing moisturizer. They have the idea right, as many hair conditioners contain some of the same ingredients as body lotions, making multi-tasking easier. Not only that, I use this stuff as a cologne! I have had so many people tell me I smelled so good, and ask what I was wearing. I say "my hair." I love all of the products by Farouk Systems..(they have a body wash and lotion). The hair product line is great when used together. (try the Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Treatment Biosilk Farouk Systems Usa Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment 11.6oz/300mlif you have dry/damaged hair). They have something for everything.
The SCENT of the Silk Therapy is one reason I stay addicted. They make a men's and women's cologne, but I don't know if they're similar to the Silk Therapy fragrance. I also don't know about any other products in the line that smell the same as this. Farouk, if you're listening..make a fragrance just like this smells!
But this product is wonderful. It works beautifully on Caucasian and African-American hair. The serum is not as thick as the CHI Silk Infusion Silk Reconstructing Complex,(Farouk sister of Biosilk). The CHI treatment smells similar to a men's fragrance. CHI Silk Infusion Reconstructing Complex 6 oz
This is all around great stuff you have to see, feel and smell to believe!
Some Helpful Tips February 15, 2010 J. Han 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love Biosilk. To be honest, Biosilk is more like a hair polisher than a "leave in silk replenishing and reconstructing treatment" as it says on the bottle. I have thick course wavy hair and I purchased this product to help prevent split ends and frizz. I've been using Biosilk for years and here are some helpful suggestions for those who wish to purchase:
1. It's better to purchase Biosilk at a beauty supply store or Target where they restock pretty often. I've used Biosilk for years and there seems to be some inconsistencies in "freshness" (Of course, this is not Farouk's fault). If you get an old bottle unfortunately, the fragrance isn't as strong and it'll make your hair look even more oilier. Also, Biosilk also have "promotion specials" throughout the year. They often come in a box that include the full 12 oz of Biosilk, shampoo and conditioner for the same price you'd normally pay for the regular 12oz price. Their Shampoos and conditioners aren't that great but it's nice to have some extra stuff rather than getting nothing.
2. Shake well before use. This is also written on the back of the bottle but not many people seem to actually shake before use. Shaking the bottle will prevent your hair looking greasy. Shaking will help redistribute the treatment serum evenly throughout the bottle. So when you squeeze it out of the bottle, there'll be an even amount of serum; preventing your hair from looking like you haven't washed your hair for days.
3. Use while your hair is still wet. If you don't blow dry or flat iron often, use Biosilk when they're wet. If you do flat iron or blow dry your hair, use Biosilk after applying heat. Applying it after will also help retain the hair from getting wavy again due to humidity.
4. If you like scrunching your hair, use it while it's still wet and scrunch with Biosilk before you apply scrunching gel/spray/mousse. This will help make your hair more curlier. If your hair is very dry, I recommend you mix in a little bit of Biosilk with your favorite scrunching product for maximum results.
5. With Biosilk, you need a clarifying shampoo to help prevent buildup. I use Suave Clarifying shampoo, You can easily get a large bottle at Target or pretty much any other retail stores. They're dirt cheap but gets the job done. I have oily hair so I use clarifying shampoo twice or even three times a week without any problem.
I hope my review helps.
I love this product! January 30, 2010 Ashley (USA) I love this product! Now that I use Biosilk Silk Therapy along with my Sedu Flat Iron, my hair has never looked better. Before I used Biosilk, my hair was dried out after I straightened it. With the Biosilk, my hair is soft, shiny, and pin straight. Also, a little goes a long way. I will never straighten my hair without this product again.
Just like everyone else says...AWESOME!! January 10, 2010 Sara Monroe I really can't say much except this stuff is amazing and well worth the money! I use a blow dryer and a flat iron almost everyday and this helps keep the damage to a minimum. Everyone should use this product!
